Five Good Reasons To Prototyping

Twenty-first Century is the age of science and technology.New ideas are exciting. For engineers, designer or company new ideas often translate to new designs and ultimately new products. The journey from concept to market is typically a long road riddled with hidden obstacles and unforeseen turns. Building a quick prototype of a design can help smooth that path as well as present some other benefits.

Prototype is an early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from. Its an essential part of the design process: realising a design in a physical form then turn your ideal into reality.

Find Design Issues Early

Prototype is not only visible, but also can touch. You can check appearance & structures directly. It is convenient to find problems, solve problems,to achieve a reasonable design for the purpose of verification.

Pre-production

If you are taking your idea into production yourself, then you may require a pre-production prototype that looks, feels and works like the final product. This type of prototype can be produced to mimic how it would actually be manufactured, in order to check that everything will fit together correctly.

Reduce Financial risk

As we all known,Mass Production will costs a lot of money. By developing a prototype to demonstrate the feasibility of your idea, you lower the risk of investment and therefore increase the probability that your idea will be funded.

By reducing time to market through low-volume manufacturing, your company gets a competitive edge. The organization also gains more market share, earns more revenue.

File patents more easily

Before 1880, all inventors had to present working models or prototypes of their inventions to the patent office as part of the patent application process. Today, the United States Patent and Trademark Office uses the “first to invent rule,” which grants a patent to the first inventor who conceives and reduces the technology or invention to practice. Though no longer required, a prototype is still the best and safest way to demonstrate “reduction to practice.”

SG Prototype has built a variety of prototypes including: Cameras,The calculator,Car Parts(Bump, headlight and wheel) Medical devices and so on.Further case studies can be viewed here: Prototyping Case Studies

We use rapid prototyping in CNC Machined(Plastic & Metal),3D Printring(SLS, SLA and FDM), Vacuum Casting and Sheet Metal Forming. STEP/IGS/X-T format are welcome!
