EPP foam for rapid prototyping

epp-foam-parts-1

EPP is an abbreviation for expanded polypropylene and is an abbreviation for a new type of foam. EPP is a high-performance polymer/gas composite with excellent performance. It is the fastest growing environmentally friendly new pressure-resistant cushioning material with its unique and superior performance.

epp-foam-parts-2

EPP light weight, good elasticity, shock and compression resistance, high deformation recovery rate, good absorption performance, oil resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, resistance to various chemical solvents, non-absorbent, insulation, heat resistance (-40~130°C), non-toxic It is tasteless, 100% recyclable and has almost no degradation in performance. It is a truly environmentally friendly foam. EPP beads can be molded into various shapes of products in the mold of the molding machine.

EPP has different densities, and the general density is 900 divided by the foaming index. In rapid prototyping, the density is greater than 30g/L for cnc machining.

EPP is widely used in automobiles, such as bumper core material, anti-collision block, ceiling and other lining parts, door filling, headrest, sun visor, etc., which can save fuel consumption and improve passenger safety factor.

EPP has also been widely used in the packaging industry, such as electronic products, medical equipment, etc., especially in the packaging of export products, has become an irreplaceable packaging according to environmental requirements. Because of its non-toxicity and high temperature resistance, it is also widely used in food packaging and microwave heating.

EPP sheet application places: soccer field base shock layer, green ground foundation drainage layer (such as golf course, park lawn), roof green drainage layer, sound insulation wall foundation layer, wall insulation layer, sandwich sheet filling layer, etc.

Foam plastics have the advantages of light weight, heat insulation, sound insulation, cushioning, high specific strength and low price. Therefore, they are widely used in the fields of packaging, industry, agriculture, transportation, military industry, industry and daily necessities.

Various foam comparisons:

PUR (polyurethane)

The foaming process uses isocyanate residues that are harmful to the human body and the product cannot be recycled.

PS (polystyrene)

The chlorofluorocarbon compound or butane is used in the foaming process, which has an adverse effect on the environment, the product is difficult to degrade and easily forms white pollution, has low strength, low elasticity and is easily broken.

PE (polyethylene)

Cross-linked polyethylene foams are less rigid and have a maximum service temperature of 80 °C.

EPP (foamed polypropylene)

Freon is not used as a foaming agent in production. It does not produce toxic and harmful gases when burned. It is a very environmentally friendly material with high temperature resistance of 130 °C, high strength and high toughness.
